Restore Healthy Bone

The jaw bone plays an integral part in the overall health of your mouth, providing everything from a stable foundation for teeth to enhanced facial aesthetics. When bone in the jaw is lost—due to gum disease, facial trauma, or tooth loss—additional oral health problems may arise, including shifting teeth and loss of facial structure. Advancements in technology have made a way for us to successfully create new bone levels through a procedure known as bone grafting. Dr. James Rogers offers this procedure to restore healthy bone volume and shape, specifically in preparation for the placement of dental implants.

Bone Grafting Procedure

During a bone grafting procedure, bone is taken either from a part of the patient’s body or a donor source. This bone is converted to granules to be placed in the affected area and covered with a collagen membrane to promote healing. The gums are stitched back into position and the area is left to heal as the new bone material fuses to the existing bone. In instances where significant bone loss has occurred in the back upper jaw below the sinus cavity, we may perform a sinus lift. This procedure raises the sinus cavity to create space underneath that is filled with bone material to restore adequate bone levels for dental implant placement.

We may also recommend PIEZOSURGERY for your bone grafting or sinus lift procedures. This revolutionary new technique utilizes ultrasonic vibrations to precisely cut bone without damaging the surrounding soft tissue. This procedure is highly effective and safe, and is beneficial for use when blood vessels or nerves are near the treatment site. PIEZOSURGERY benefits the patient by being gentler and less invasive for minimized bleeding, reduced pain, and a faster recovery time.

Accurate, Predictable Results

Bone grafting can be very beneficial to patients in need of dental implants, providing the adequate support the jaw bone needs to stabilize the implant post. Dr. Rogers utilizes the latest technology during bone grafting procedures to ensure increased comfort and minimal post-operative recovery time. He has participated in advanced bone augmentation continuing education courses to remain up-to-date on techniques that can increase accuracy and predictability in grafting procedures.
